As many female celebs are open about using the herb in interviews, there was a long list of stars to consider. Here’s our selection of the top ten ladies who like to light up.
1. Rihanna
It’s no secret that pop singer and Grammy award winner Rihanna smokes weed. The cover art of the deluxe edition of her sixth album, Talk That Talk clearly shows her puffing. The Barbadian beauty was also spotted using cannabis at the Bulldog Cafe in Amsterdam in 2011.
In January 2022, Rihanna revealed she was pregnant with her first child and would give up marijuana to have a healthy baby.
2. Kristen Stewart
In an interview, Kristen Stewart recalled how the paparazzi caught her puffing. The actress, who played Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga film series, was smoking weed on her porch when the photographer took the snapshot.
That picture earned her a spot on our list of female celebrity smokers. Stewart, nominated for an Oscar as Princess Diana in Spencer, also appears in Panic Room, The Runaways, and Personal Shopper.
3. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga reveals her cannabis use in her 2017 Netflix documentary, Gaga: Five Foot Two. She says the herb helps her deal with the stress of being in the spotlight.
The star claims she takes advantage of the health benefits of marijuana by consuming weed to relieve her chronic pain. Lady Gaga also admits she smokes cannabis when writing music, as it helps stimulate her creative process.
Gaga used to smoke up to 20 joints a day but now claims to have a better relationship with the plant. The singer says she only tokes for fun in the evenings.
4. Melissa Etheridge
Singer and songwriter Melissa Etheridge started using marijuana after her breast cancer diagnosis in 2004. She told Billboard that the herb helped her recover during chemotherapy.
The Grammy and Oscar winner is a co-founder of Etheridge Organics, which offers a range of CBD oils.
Besides being one of the female celebrities who smoke weed, the star cultivates seeds too. In 2020, she launched a sister company, Etheridge Botanicals, selling flowers and prerolls in California dispensaries.
5. Sarah Silverman
Sarah Silverman has, on many occasions, informed her fans of her penchant for marijuana. For example, at a red-carpet interview for the 2014 Emmys, she showed her weed vape pen to TV host Giuliana Rancic.
In a 2015 BuzzFeed interview, the comedian spoke about being the first celebrity to smoke cannabis with Seth Rogen. She also mentioned getting high with her parents during a 2015 Conan appearance.
Silverman and Rogen are among the celebs in the Cannabis in Common campaign calling on Congress to legalize marijuana.
6. Megan Fox
Megan Fox is outspoken about her weed use and describes America’s war on drugs as “all propaganda.” In 2009, the Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles actress told GQ she smoked marijuana.
Fox also said she hopes the government legalizes cannabis across the U.S. and insists she’d be the “first person in line to buy a pack of joints.”
7. Jennifer Lawrence
Another one of many female celebrities who smoke weed is Jennifer Lawrence. Besides lots of paparazzi pictures showing her puffing, the pro-cannabis actress admitted to Adam Sandler that she’s out-smoked Woody Harrelson.
In a 2018 The Howard Stern Show episode, she spoke about Ellen DeGeneres’ 60th birthday party, where she used “rapper” marijuana.
Writer and director Adam McKay disclosed the star asked him if she could get stoned for a scene in the 2021 comedy, Don’t Look Up.
8. Kate Hudson
Actress Kate Hudson confesses she loves weed and “probably” lit up with movie co-star Matthew McConaughey.
The Academy Award nominee also spoke to Ellen Degeneres about smoking cannabis with her celebrity parents, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.
In 2021, Hudson teamed up with friends Darren Criss and Baron Davis for a festive ad campaign promoting THC-infused drinks.
9. Miley Cyrus
Star of Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus is another famous female stoner open about her drug experiences. She told Rolling Stone in a 2013 interview that marijuana is her favorite, saying, “I think weed is the best drug on earth.”
On the Joe Rogan Experience in 2020, the singer and actress revealed she used a lot of cannabis as a teenager. She said it was rough balancing work and life.
Cyrus mentioned on the show that she gave up toking in late 2019. After surgery on her vocal cords, she stopped using the plant to prevent smoking from affecting her voice.
10. Kirsten Dunst
Kirsten Dunst is best known as Peter Parker’s love interest, Mary Jane Watson, in the three Spider-Man movies. However, she’s also a famous female smoker known for marijuana use.
The star admitted in Britain’s Live magazine in 2009 that she likes weed but smokes moderately. She said she has a different view on cannabis than America does, adding, “the world would be a better place if more people smoked marijuana.”
