Located in the southern part of Europe, this country is rich in everything history can offer: literature, music, architecture, events, famous people. This ancient country was the center of many historical events, so it’s no wonder that Italy influenced many other countries.
This wonderful country in so many ways and you can explore it through the coastal towns. They are the perfect combination of nature, sea, and Mediterranean architecture. Probably you have already seen some of the photos, but we tried to show you some of the less famous towns as well. Enjoy the amazing view during these cold autumn days!
1. Manarola

This colorful small town is one of the Cinque Terre coastal towns, making it full of tourists every year. It is located in Northern Italy, as part of the province La Spezia, Liguria. Manarola is probably one of the oldest towns in that region, considering that the church’s cornerstone is from the 14th century. You will love this place because of the happy atmosphere, beautiful surrounding nature, and the wine.
2. Capri
The province of Naples can also be proud of this island, known as Capri. The island is located in the Campania region in Italy, surrounded by the Tyrrhenian Sea. Like the rest of the coastal towns, Capri Town also has its own magic. If you visit this place, make sure to visit the sea cave known as Grotta Azzurra and the remaining ruins of the Imperial Roman villas.
3. Camogli
During the medieval ages, Camogli was a very important seaport. Over the years, it became a fishing village where the local Italians avoid the touristic crowds. The village is located in the province Genoa on the Italian Riviera. It’s full of wonderful small restaurants, coffee shops, narrow streets with flowers and you can feel the Mediterranean atmosphere with no problem at all!

Sorrento is a very old coastal town; it has its’ origins, even the Roman era. It played a big role back then and during the medieval ages. Nowadays, it is a popular touristic place with a wonderful seaside, overlooking the Bay of Naples. Located in Southern Italy, this place cast spell even on celebrities. Famous Italian opera singer Luciano Pavarotti is one of them! If you visit Sorrento, make sure not to leave without trying limoncello, which is produced exactly here.
5. Ponza
Ponza is the largest island of the Italian Pontine Archipelago , making it a part of the Lazio region. The town of Ponza is a popular touristic place with the typical Mediterranean architecture: small, pastel-colored houses, narrow streets, and small cafe bars. You can see many interesting things on the island, such as the Botanical Garden, the Moon Gravel Beach, and many other beaches, caves, and ports.
6. Portofino
Located on the Italian Riviera, Portofino can take your breath away when you see it: colorful buildings by the shore, yachts next to the port, and an amazing turquoise sea. It will make you take a bath and don’t go out for hours! When it comes to touristic attractions, Portofino offers few churches and a statue of Christ of the Abyss. This small town must be on your list!

Sardinia is the second-largest island of the Mediterranean islands, and it is considered an autonomous region of Italy. The island offers so much to the tourists, and there’s much to see, but what should be on the top of your travelling list is La Maddalena. It is the largest town in the Mediterranean region and is located in the northern part of Sardinia.

The tourists who come here can really enjoy the wonderful water of the Adriatic sea. Don’t hesitate to visit this place! Unlike many coastal towns, Polignano a Mare isn’t very colorful, but rather with plain, white colors. The town is located in Southern Italy. You will love this place, because of the sea, the climate, the Italians and the food of course!

Capoliveri is a small place located on the island of Elba. It doesn’t offer any wild nightlife, but quiet relaxation. The streets of the town are narrow and charming, the buildings are grey-ish or pastel, but what will certainly grab your attention is the sea view. That see is really asking you to get inside and have fun!

Positano is just of the very popular towns of the Amalfi Coast. This charming village used to be poor a few decades ago. It started to get some attention after famous writer John Steinbeck wrote an essay about how wonderful this fishing village is. Since then, Positano grew more and more popular, and just by looking at the picture, we can definitely see why!
